Painting is the axis, and from it the work expands into collage and ceramics. Her research investigates the construction and deconstruction of the image, moving between figuration, abstraction and landscape, in reflections on matter, time and memory.
Trained in Visual Arts at the Federal University of Uberlândia in 2002, she understands painting as a field of thought and experiment, in which information, research and observation become visual language. Her practice refuses the idea of spontaneous inspiration: it works from a repertoire built through theoretical study and the observation of nature and daily life.
From Matisse comes the investigation of chromatic composition and the building of the image by cut-outs; from Beatriz Milhazes, intense colour and the procedures of masking, overlay and erasure. The organic elements find an echo in Ernst Haeckel’s scientific illustrations and in the research of Paul Klee and Hilma af Klint; Mira Schendel, Eva Hesse and Anni Albers tension matter, gesture, repetition and structure, bringing painting close to textile procedures.
She lives and works in Araçatuba, where she keeps a studio and teaches. In 2012 she sat on the committee of MAAP – Museu Araçatubense de Artes Plásticas.
