Alex Rocca works on the border between art and craft. Trained in film, with later studies in set design and interiors, he has built a sculptural textile practice: fibre, brass, glass and ceramics assembled by hand — drilling glass, structural stitching in metal, braiding, accumulation.
Cloaks, totems, shields and jewels carry a research into Afro-diasporic cosmologies, ancestral memory and transmission. The pieces take on presence through weight and density: they are ritual objects before they are wall objects.
