A potter since the age of ten, he trained in visual arts at the UFBA School of Fine Arts and studied woodcut, Bahian baroque sculpture and the arts of fire, the last in Portugal.
His work is Bahian syncretism in clay: Catholic saints in baroque carving, oratories and orixás, built by the Roman coil technique that dispenses with moulds. The delicacy of the figures runs against the hardness of the material.
